From http://www.GamblersTelevision.com Hello pro football fans from our "Rockstar" studio this is a quick hitter from the NFL. Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre has announced his intentions of returning to the NFL. The 17-year NFL veteran announced his desire to return to the Packers but Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy and general manager Ted Thompson stated that Favre could return to the Packers but only in a backup role. 2004 1st round pick Aaron Rodgers would be their #1 quarterback in the 2008 season. Brett Favre announced his retirement on March 6th of this year but began having second thoughts about his decision just a few weeks later. The Packers and Favre had talks about Favre returning to the team since late March. Green Bay's starting quarterback for the past 16 seasons would not give the team his 100% commitment about his comeback until July 8th according to the team. By then it was a little too late. By this time Packer management had determined that 2008 would be the year Aaron Rodgers would be the teams starter. They are ready to move on with their quarterback from Cal leading the offense entering his 4th season in the league. The Packers have asked Favre for a list of teams he would like to be traded too but the Packer QB wants his outright release from the club so he can negotiate freely with other NFL teams. The Packers are reluctant to do so because they would like compensation in the form of draft picks or players in return for Favre and not absolutely nothing. Aaron Rodgers was summoned into duty last season in the Packers high profile game on the road at Dallas last season. Brett Favre sustained an elbow injury in the second quarter and Rodgers responded, passing for 18 of 26 for 201 yards and 1 touchdown and no interceptions. Unfortunately many around the nation were unable to view this game as the NFL Network carried it live and the channel at the time was not widely available among US households. Brett Favre is receiving poor support from Green Bay fans. Green Bay Sports Radio Station WDUZ "The Fan" ran a poll on their stations website asking if the Packers are handling the situation correctly. An astounding 80% of the fans responded in favor of the team. The Packers open the season Monday Night September 8th at home against division rival the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers are a 3-point favorite. Oddsmakers have made the Packers 30 to 1 to win Super Bowl 43. That will do it for today's NFL coverage.
